CLEVELAND — Seven students at Scranton Elementary School in Cleveland are being treated for coughing and throat irritation possibly caused by exposure to pepper spray, according to Cleveland fire officials.
Fire officials said the exposure may have come from what appears to be a peppery spray released from a locker. The symptoms the students exhibited were consistent with pepper spray exposure.
Cleveland fire ventilated the area, and students were able to return back to the school.
Cleveland Fire and Cleveland EMS are on scene at the school, and a hazardous materials team is investigating.
