CLEVELAND — An employee of the Department of Children and Family Services was attacked early Tuesday morning in the parking lot of the Jane Edna Hunter Building on Euclid Avenue in Cleveland, according to a spokesperson for the Department of Health and Human Services.

The DCFS employee had just returned to the building at around 2:00 a.m. after having a teen seek treatment at a local hospital when the teen began attacking her as she entered the back door.

A protective services officer on duty and several other employees in the area saw the attack and came to her help, subduing the teen and calling 911.

The employee was taken the hospital for multiple bruises to her head, face, shoulders and arms. She was treated and released from the hospital, where she is now with family recovering.

The teen was arrested and will be charged, according to officials.

Peer support counseling will be available to other hotline staff. The department said it will review safety protocols to determine if any adjustments should be made to reduce the likelihood of similar incident in the future
