Cleveland police arrested three people after a pursuit that ended with the vehicle crashing into a building at Thornton Park in Shaker Heights.
The chase started around 3:30 a.m. when Cleveland officers spotted a car that was taken at gunpoint earlier in the night and attempted to pull them over along Harvard Avenue.
The Ford Escort was stolen near the intersection of East 106th Street and Union Avenue sometime around midnight, according to Cleveland police.
During the 10-minute pursuit, the suspects led Cleveland police into Warrensville Heights and, eventually, Shaker Heights.
The car went up a sidewalk in Thornton Park before hitting a building near the pool.
Cleveland police said there were five people in the car and that three were caught when they tried to run after hitting the building. The other two were able to get away.
The car did only minor cosmetic damage to the Thornton Park building.
Cleveland police also said the suspects may have been involved in the shooting of two people that showed up at South Pointe Hospital around 1:30 a.m. The shooting victims told police that they were shot by a people in a white car along Harvard Avenue near East 140th Street.
Police said they had not yet located a gun but they needed to tow the car to a better location to do more investigating.
