As Cleveland's new 600 room Hilton Convention Center Hotel nears completion those in charge of the city's largest hotel prepare to hire the workforce that will run it.

"We are going to start hiring in March and we're going to start training all through May," said General Manager Teri Agosta. "All of our team members will go through up to three weeks of training learning all about Hilton and then learning their job specific skills. So we feel very comfortable about being ready for our opening date of June 1."

The Hilton posted on Facebook last week that they'd soon be hiring and the response was overwhelming.

"I mean it's off  the charts, we've had over 90,000 clicks on Facebook just to get more information and go after to our landing page about the job previews," Agosta said.

The job previews are a chance for them to explain to potential employees what exactly the jobs are.

"We're doing it a little different this time we're starting with job previews which are going to teach people exactly the positions that are available at the Hilton. Not a lot of people know like we have security guards we're going to hire or what exactly a room attendant does or what does a houseman do so we're going to educate them on the actual job description," Agosta said.

They'll also learn about wages and benefits as well as walk applicants how to apply online March 1.

The job preview sessions will be held at the Global Center for Health Innovation at 1 St. Clair Ave. on Thursday and Friday, Feb. 25 and Feb. 26 from noon to 1 p.m. and 6-7 p.m. A session will also be held Saturday Feb. 27 from 2-3 p.m.

"So those dates in February, those job previews are going to be very similar to what's done at a college when you're being recruited. You're going to learn about Hilton and you're going to learn about the jobs," she said.

"Then everything will be posted March 1, then the actual job fair will be the first two weeks in April," she said.

There will be 300 jobs that will range from line level positions; front desk, valet, housekeeping, servers etc but also culinary, engineering and other management positions.
