Cleveland police are looking for the driver of a car that was torn in half in a crash on Broadway late Monday night.

Police at the scene told News 5 that the driver was able to jump from the wreckage, tear the license plates off the destroyed car and run away around 11:50 p.m. Monday.

The early 2000's Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS was left sitting in the middle of Broadway Avenue just west of Harvard Avenue with the entire passenger side torn wide open.

The driver struck a steel pole that was supporting a school zone speed limit sign and flashing lights.

The pole was still upright with debris all around it on the ground from the car.

No other cars were involved in the crash.
