Ed Crawford will tell you he supported Ohio Governor John Kasich vigorously in his bid for the White House but now Crawford, who is chair of Park-Ohio Holdings, will applying that energy to help Donald Trump win in Ohio as state finance chair of the Ohio Victory team.
“I’m proud to have Eddie agree to be our state director to help us raise the funds that we need at the RNC,” said RNC Chair Reince Priebus.
As a supporter of Kasich, who has failed to endorse Donald Trump, Crawford was asked if that would impact fundraising among donors who also supported Kasich.
“John Kasich has been an excellent governor and still is a governor but he has his right to make his own decisions and when he decides what he's going to do he'll let us know,” said Crawford.
Right now, that will not get in our way. In fact, quite frankly it might put some extra energy into the corners of this thing. Don't think for a second that people are just overwhelmed by the fact someone's not going to play on our team. It's like losing a pitcher, that's okay we lose the pitcher we'll get another someone else in there, we're not worried about that."
“We’re going to get the players and if he wants to come back and play with us we need him, I hope he’ll be here but if he’s not we’ll do it ourselves.”
Crawford, a son of immigrants, built Park-Ohio Holdings into a worldwide company with 6,000 employees but he said in America they have not been in a position to add any jobs in three years.
“That’s incredible from my viewpoint,” he said. “We don’t like that.”
“We need help, we need help from the government and we’ll do the rest of it,” he said.
“I want everyone to have the same chance I had and if we let it go to the other side that chance will not be there.”
