MetroHealth said Dr. Edward Hills, a former chief operating officer of The MetroHealth System and former chair of the Department of Oral Health, had his home and offices searched.
The businesses searched were not part of MetroHealth, according to the statement.
Hill resigned his MetroHealth position in December 2014 as part of an organizational restructuring, the spokesperson said.
A spokesperson with the FBI said the agency could not confirm “activity on Deer Island in Aurora today” and went on to say “this is an ongoing investigation and the activities from today are under seal by the court.”

MetroHealth would not comment any further, except to say the investigation began when they alerted law enforcement to "possible irregularities in the Department of Oral Health and Dentistry."
The statement said MetroHealth has since fully cooperated with officials during the investigation.
