A man was shot Wednesday evening during a custody exchange in the parking lot of the Cleveland Police First District.

Police said officers responded to the parking lot after hearing a commotion around 8:40 p.m. and found 31-year-old Isiah Martin holding a gun.

Officers confiscated the gun and took Martin into custody.

While officers were at the scene, a man walked into the police station lobby with a gunshot wound to his shoulder.

Officers provided treatment until EMS arrived. He was then taken to MetroHealth Medical Center for treatment.

Police said Martin shot the other man after an argument during a custody transfer.
