Mayor Jackson: All Cleveland first responders will be trained to administer overdose antidote Narcan

Soon all first responders in the city will be trained to use Narcan.

In an effort to combat the heroin and opiod epidemic, Mayor Frank Jackson has ordered police officer to receive training to administer to antidote to overdosing.

Jackson and his administration say they recognize the need to have the drug readily available for all first responders. EMS teams and firefighters already administer the drug.

Once training is complete every Cleveland officer, paramedic and firefighter will be able to give the drug.
