The Cleveland Police Foundation's Officer of the Year for 2014 had an interesting day as a cop and as a mother on Leap Day.
According to Cleveland police, Anne Mercado worked her normal eight-hour shift on Leap Day and on her way home, she witnessed a robbery.
Police said Mercado chased down one of the suspects with help from a citizen, then took the time to take several young women to an advanced screening of Disney's animated movie 'Zootopia.'
Mercado volunteered and took the children to the movie on her own time, police said.
"...because she is an amazing police officer, an amazing woman, and an amazing example to all females that don that blue uniform and take the oath to protect the people of this city!!"
