Police have arrested two suspects in connection to the July 24 assault of 29-year-old Zachary Larney, a man who died on Friday, authorities reported.

Larney, of Euclid, died on Friday after being the victim of a suspected homicide, according to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office.

While on patrol in the downtown area on the evening of July 24, authorities noticed an altercation between a man and woman on West 6th Street.

Police said officers pulled over to try to separate the two individuals. The officers were then told about a man that was unconscious in an alley beside the Rumor nightclub, located at 1266 West 6th Street.

Authorities said the man was found unresponsive. He was treated by EMS and taken to MetroHealth Medical Center on July 25 from West 6th Street and Johnson Court. He was pronounced dead on Friday.

Tracy Davon Thompkins, 25, and Frederick Alexander Eason, Jr., 31, were both arrested in connection to Larney's incident and charged with felonious assault. Indictments for both men said they caused serious physical harm to a victim.

A GoFundMe page was created for Larney. A woman claiming to be Larney's mother wrote the description for the page, which stated:

My name is Debbra Larney. With tremendous pain and a heavy heart I have started a Go Fund Me page for my oldest son Zachary Larney.

On Sunday July 24th 2016 my son was brutally assaulted by 2 perpetrators in Downtown Cleveland. He suffered major head trauma and as a result is now in a medically induced coma. He is currently in the ICU unit at Metro Health Hospital recovering from this senseless attack.

Zachary is not out of the woods and has a long road towards recovery. Doctors are uncertain about the long term effects of his brain injuries.

Zachary is a devoted father of 2 beautiful children. He is hard working and provides for his family. He is loved by all of his friends and the light of my life. It pains me to share this story but I am aware of the financial burden this will be on him and our family. In order to mitigate the financial weight of this unprovoked incident I am in need of your help.

All funds collected will directly assist in Zachary’s ballooning medical bills and the continued care of his 2 children Zayden-2 and Kennedy-3 while he is recovering.

I am completely overwhelmed and am seeking any type of assistance. I cannot do this alone.

Thank you for your time.

God Bless You,

Debbra Larney
