When 12 year old Celia Head was asked what her American Dream is...She couldn't hold back her words.

“I looked at the choices of what I could write about and I was like, oh cool I have a dream,” She said.

Born legally blind in both eyes, and now lives with just partial sight, her parents tell me she's never wanted any of that to hold her back.

"She can see enough to move around,” said her father Ryan Head. “She's very very independent, she wants to be like everyone else.” Her mother, Suzanne Head, continued to describe her personality by saying, “she does not want to be babied by anybody."

That's why Celia wanted to write a letter for the world to see.

“I have a dream that people with disabilities could be treated like everyone else," she said.

She's just one of the 600 kids in Northeast Ohio whose thoughts and artwork will be displayed across the city during the RNC for Cleveland State University’s ‘Red, Write and Blue’ Challenge.

"In an election where there's an awful lot of wrangling it's awfully nice to be reminded that the children really have or are the voice of democracy," said Sharon Brown, Education Director at CSU.

“I think it's cool because kids get to express themselves" Celia said.

From the windows on CSU's campus to restaurants and even the airport, residents and visitors alike will be able to see what first through eighth graders think about freedom and our government.

"So you see it all, you're kind of moved to tears a little bit on some and smiling at others," Brown said.

Speaking freely is something 12 year old Celia said she doesn't take for granted.

"If we didn't have that than we'd just be like a torn up place...no one would be able to really know what other people are thinking."

Not only will her essay be hung for CSU's challenge, she's also one of just five students selected to say the Pledge of Allegiance on opening day of the RNC on Monday.
