Police investigating video of arrest in Cleveland

Police are investigating a video of an arrest in Cleveland that has been viewed by thousands on social media.

In the video, posted on Friday to Facebook and YouTube, an officer from an unknown department hits a handcuffed woman. 

newsnet5.com reached out to the City of Cleveland and the Cleveland Division of Police for comment.

Cleveland Division of Police spokesperson Reginald Lanton said: "The Cleveland Division of Police is aware of the incident and it is under investigation."

City of Cleveland spokesperson Dan Ball said: "The alleged incident is under investigation."

Police did not identify the woman involved but social media posts identified the woman as 21-year-old Ciara Perez Rodriguez.

According to court records, Rodriguez was charged with assault on a police officer. She appeared in court on Saturday and was given $1,000 bond.
