A 17-year-old boy is dead after a 14-year-old driving a stolen van caused a crash in Cleveland Sunday, police say,

According to police, the 14-year-old was driving a reported stolen 2002 Dodge Caravan southbound on East 30th Street around 5:30 p.m. when he went through a red light at the intersection of Community College Avenue.

Nina Costanzo, 30, was driving a 2009 Nissan Sentra westbound on Community College Avenue when the 14-year-old collided with her car.

Police say the teen was driving well in excess of the posted speed limit of 35 mph.

The impact caused the van to spin out on control, striking a utility pole and a steel sign. The 17-year-old passenger in the van was ejected into the road.

The force also caused the Nissan to collide with a 2016 Jeep Patriot that was stopped on Community College Avenue waiting to turn left onto East 30th Street.

The 17-year-old—identified by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner as Willie Workman—was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 14-year-old driver and another passenger of the van were taken to MetroHealth Medical Center with severe injuries.
