The Cuyahoga County prosecutor's office said it will not be pursuing charges against the woman who was allegedly running a pregnancy scam.

Hospitals in Northeast Ohio were on alert in February when there was concern that Dawn Brown, the wife of a now-retired Cleveland police officer, might try to take an infant after her alleged fake pregnancy and cancer scam was publicly exposed. A "be on the lookout" flyer with Dawn's picture was posted at Fairview Hospital.

Brown was accused of lying for years, taking donations and receiving support from people who were convinced that she was pregnant, but had terminal breast cancer. In February, police sources said it appeared that she was neither dying from cancer, nor was she pregnant.

According to one of her ex-husbands, Brown's alleged scam dates back to 2001.
