In the wake of Hurricane Matthew, the Cleveland APL welcomed more than a dozen dogs from South Carolina shelters. Now they're looking for homes.

The Cleveland APL took 17 puppies and dogs in on Thursday morning. All of them were transferred from shelters in South Carolina after being up for adoption there.

Last week, the Cleveland APL got a phone call from the Humane Society of the United States saying they wanted to make room for displaced animals from Hurricane Matthew who had owners so they could be reunited quicker.

To make room, the dogs that were up for adoption were sent to Cleveland.

The dogs are settling in well at the shelter, and some are available right now for adoption.
