Two people were arrested Friday on theft charges after allegedly stealing groceries from a Willougby Giant Eagle store.
Police say Douglas Moore, 57, and Myrtle Moore, 61, walked into the store around 5 p.m. Friday.
After asking an employee if they had any large, reusable shopping bags, the pair was observed filling those bags with a slew of items –totaling $77.34 -- and leaving the store without paying.
When managers asked the couple to step back into the store, they both claimed they assumed the other person had paid.
The couple was arrested and both were charged with first-degree misdemeanor theft and released that evening on $3,500 bond. They are scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on March 17.
