Medina Township police worked with the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation to collect thousands of alleged stolen items from homes in Medina Township, Brunswick and North Ridgeville.

Medina Township Chief David Arbogast told News 5 they are questioning the owners, but so far no arrests have been made, with the case likely going to a Medina County grand jury.

Arbogast said retailers within a 100-mile radius started to notice a pattern of theft at their stores, with the alleged stolen items being sold on websites like eBay and Craigslist.

Police recovered thousands in merchandise, from electronics to a wide variety of household items.

Arbogast said investigators will go through computers and cell phones taken from the scene in the search for clues.

Arbogast warned last-minute Christmas shoppers looking for a deal on-line, if the price is too good to be true, the item may be stolen merchandise.

"There's some indication retailers involved could be as far away as Columbus Ohio," said Arbogast.

"There's multiple retailers involved in it, multiple people involved in it."

"Some of our retailers have some fantastic video that we can pick back up.  So we're gonna have to take everyone of these items, and there's literally thousands of them, and identify where they came from."

Police from Montville Township, Brunswick and North Ridgeville help with the sting.
