Twenty-two thousand chickens died in a barn fire in Ashland County Monday morning.
The fire broke out at the egg laying facility on Township Road 608 just north of Savannah at 11:27 a.m.
Six fire departments responded to battle the fire.
All the chickens inside the barn died. The 500-foot-long barn was completely destroyed.
The owner of the barn said he did not have insurance. The barn had only been in use for about a year and a half.
Smoke could be seen as far as seven miles away, in Ashland.
