INDEPENDENCE, Ohio — Two people died as a result of a two-car crash that happened on I-480 near Interstate 77 late Friday evening.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 11:45 p.m.
Troopers responded for a report of two cars damaged in a crash.
Authorities say that a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze was heading east on I-480 when it was rear-ended by a 2011 Ford Escape. The impact caused the Cruze to leave the left side of the road and hit a guardrail.
The Escape went off the right side of the road, up an embankment, and struck a guardrail and then a concrete bridge wall.
The driver of the Cruze sustained minor injuries, troopers said.
The Escape's driver, and a juvenile passenger, died from the crash, authorities said. They have not released their names.
Four other occupants in the Escape, two adults and two juveniles, were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their injuries were serious, troopers said.
The crash remains under investigation.
