Three students at Louis Agassiz elementary school were injured Thursday when ceiling plaster broke loose and fell in the cafeteria at lunchtime Wednesday, according to the Cleveland Metropolitan School District.

The children were transported to Fairview Hospital with head injuries, according to CEO Eric Gordon.

Gordon ordered the school cafeteria closed for the next two days for a review. He has also called in a structural engineer to assess the entire building, according to CMSD.

The district stated that families of injured students have been notified and counseling is being provided for students who were frightened. A plan is underway to continue providing lunch to students in an alternate location.
