The American Civil Liberties Union of Ohio is threatening to take legal action against the City of Cleveland over parade permits for the Republican National Convention.
The ACLU represents two groups planning to demonstrate during the convention in July: Organize Ohio and Citizens for Trump.
A letter sent to city officials from the ACLU, states Organize Ohio submitted their application on March 16 and Citizens for Trump on April 25.
By denying to approve the applications the city is denying the groups their First Amendment rights, according to the ACLU.
It also says the delay is causing problems for both groups, which plan to have thousands participating in their demonstrations.
The ACLU has given the city until the end of the day on Monday, June 1, to approve the applications, otherwise they plan to seek a remedy in court.
