Donald Meade vanished 20 years ago, and his family has spent every second since searching for him.
The Army vet was living in Southern California among hundreds of the area’s homeless population. He struggled with addiction, cancer and heart problems.
"They did a story on me in California and it got over to Ohio, and it went through the internet and found me,” said Meade.
Illumination Foundation, an organization that helps homeless people, saw the story and connected Meade with his family.
The organization also helped Meade find an apartment and arranged Wednesday night’s reunion.
"If God rebuilt this relationship, he can rebuild any of them,” said Meade’s ex-wife, Beverly Hemmerly Lake. "It’s all God. It’s all God."
Meade will be in Cleveland for the next 12 days, and then he will return to California until he can make arrangements to move here.
