Audit finds school in Cuyahoga County was not entitled to some funding after it failed to track attendance

WARRENSVILLE, Ohio — An audit by the state of Ohio found that Capella High School in Warrensville Heights owes the Ohio Department of Education after it failed to accurately record attendance, a news release from the auditor’s office found.

Capella High School owes the department of education $18,384 for overstating student attendance. The Ohio Department of Education found the school was not entitled to funding it had received based on school attendance.

In both 2017 and 2018, the Department of Education performed attendance reviews and found the school’s attendance was overstated.

Because the school closed on June 30, 2018, repayments are not being made to the Department of Education. The auditor's office issued a finding for recovery for the remaining balance.
