Brook Park Mayor Thomas Coyne among Irish Americans invited by Trump to DC on St. Patrick's Day Eve

Posted

Mayor Thomas J. Coyne has been invited to be among a number of Irish American dignitaries to meet with President Donald Trump, on the eve of St. Patrick’s Day, March 16, 2017.

A press release from the city says Coyne will use his White House visit to discuss jobs and "the non-functioning Ford Motor Plant located in Brook Park."

“I am honored to be a guest of the President of the United States and I am hopeful that I can have his ear long enough to lay out the concerns I have regarding the non-productive Ford Motors site. I am hopeful to discuss how President Trump can help in restoring jobs to Northeast Ohio over the next four years.” - Mayor Thomas Coyne, Brook Park

Coyne, a one-time Democrat turned Independent, supported Donald Trump's presidential candidacy.

A honor for the mayor

The press release says that, upon his return to Ohio, Coyne will be honored as the “Irish Good Person of the Year,” by the Irish Goodfellowship Club of Cleveland.

This is the 107th Annual Irish Goodfellowship Luncheon and will take place at 11:30 am at the Wyndham Hotel at Playhouse Square on St. Patrick's Day.
