Homicides have peppered the city, resulting in cars, sidewalks, vacant homes, hospital beds and alleys serving as crime scenes.
After a series of deadly shootings in the Garden Valley neighborhood over the weekend, News 5 Cleveland took a look at homicide numbers for this year and compared them to years past.

As of Monday, the city of Cleveland had recorded 30 homicides, according to News 5 archives. About this time last year, the city had recorded 27 homicides.
Of the 30 people killed so far in 2017:
- 26 have been black
- 4 have been white
- 28 of them died after being shot
- 2 people were stabbed to death
- 8 people were under the age of 20
