CLEVELAND — The City of Cleveland is announcing Monday the launch of its streetlight conversion program, a project that will replace a total of 61,000 streetlights with energy-efficient LED lights over an 18-month period.

The project is part of Mayor Frank Jackson's Safe Smart CLE initiative. The 61,000 streetlights are owned by Cleveland Public Power.

The project also includes the installation of several cameras throughout the city.
