Rape Crisis Center announces 2 new services

Posted

Cleveland Rape Crisis Center launched two new services Friday for survivors of rape and sexual assault to access help.  These services are announced to kick off April which is sexual assault awareness month.

Survivors can now text for help or support to 216-619-6192 or by chatting with a specialist online at clevelandrapecrisis.org/chat.  These new services are in addition to the center’s existing support hotline.

"We are excited to launch two additional services to help survivors of rape and sexual abuse find the help and support they need to recover," said Sondra Miller, President and CEO of Cleveland Rape Crisis Center.  "Now, in addition to calling our Crisis and Support Hotline at 216-619-6192, survivors, their loved ones and members of the community can text or chat with our Advocates who are here 24/7 to believe, listen and help."

The center’s hotline provides support and assistance to survivors of rape and sexual assault, their loved ones and members of the community.

The crisis hotline has been helping those in need since 1974.

In 2015, the center took more than 3,000 calls to the hotline the center reports.

The new services are part of program expansions funded through the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) program administered by the Ohio Attorney General, Crime Victims Service.
