When Donald Trump comes to Cleveland, GOP sources tell CNN he wants to go out huge.
Trump reportedly wants to move the last night of the Republican National Convention from the Quicken Loans Arena to a larger venue, like Progressive Field or First Energy Stadium.
First Energy Stadium can hold more than 70,000 people. Progressive Field can hold about 37,000. Both are much larger than the 20,000 that can fit inside The Q, but national security expert Tim Dimoff said the late change with pose major challenges for security preps that have been underway for nearly two years.
Speaking about First Energy Stadium Dimoff said, “That’s a venue that’s outside the inner security perimeter which makes it another problem because now you’ve got to extend that security cone and you’ve got to do it in the next month and a half.”
President Obama did something similar in 2008, moving the final night of the democratic convention to the stadium where the Denver Broncos play, but Dimoff noted those plans were made in advance, and not less than two moths out.
