The city of East Cleveland has shut down a nightclub that has been the location of shootings and other acts of violence.
East Cleveland Mayor Gary Norton told newsnet5.com Wednesday that Prive Ultra Lounge has been closed permanently. The occupancy permit was also revoked.
newsnet5.com reported in Marchthat the mayor and council members were concerned about violence at the bar.
Council member Nathaniel Martin said Prive was known to stay open past curfew.
"If our police are over-burdened, let the sheriff come in, they shut these places down," Martin said at the time. "Send somebody undercover, I want to know what the hell is going on in there at 4 and 5 in the morning."
In July, there was a double shooting at the nightclub at 5 a.m. on a Sunday morning. Two victims were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
