Female Cleveland police officer assaulted, service weapon stolen

A Cleveland police officer was assaulted Thursday while working a secondary job in full uniform at Taco Bell.

Police say the officer left the Taco Bell at 4110 Lee Road and was putting items into her personal car when a suspect came up behind her and tried to take her service weapon.

The officer fought back and another suspect approached and beat her repeatedly in the face.

The suspects took the officer's gun and fled.

The officer was treated for facial injuries.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call investigators at 216-623-5418. Crimestoppers is offering a reward up to $2,500 for any information leading to the identification, arrest and prosecution of the suspects or for information that leads to the recovery of the service weapon.
