Greater Cleveland police launched a week-long vigil Saturday to remember fallen peace officers.
It's the 31st annual commemoration, where police officers go on a promise-keeping quest with the motto "to never forget our fallen heroes."
Public events will unfold throughout the seven days, many of which coincide with National Police Week.
The activities include a parade set to proceed down Lakeside Avenue on Friday. Afterward police will hold a commemorative service at the Peace Officers Memorial in Huntington Park, which holds the inscribed names of officers who have fallen.
But not all of the names.
As many as nine fallen officers are not listed and their honor is overdue, according to the Greater Cleveland Police Officers Memorial Society, which sponsors the week's events.
At the ceremony, the society will seek to right that as two new pillars will be unveiled to not only depict the nine but to also leave space for names that may be added in the future.
On the next day, Cleveland International Tatoo will be the featured event in a police pipes & drums concert woven with music, songs and drill and dance performances.
