Heartless Felons member indicted for 2015 murder

Posted

Marcus Ladson, a member of the Heartless Felons gang, was indicted for the murder of 29-year-old Curtis Avent III and 25 other counts, according to the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas.

According to the indictment, Ladson was charged on one count of murder, eight counts of felonious assault, 12 counts of having weapons under disability, one count of participating in a criminal gang, one count of grand theft, and three counts of improperly discharging into habitation.

The indictment stated Ladson's multiple "weapons under disability" charges stemmed from a previous indictment that involved trafficking drugs and an aggravated burglary he committed as a juvenile, which would've been a felony offense had he been committed as an adult.

Ladson, the indictment said, did participate in the Heartless Felons, a criminal street gang in the City of Cleveland and in the state prison system. Others involved in crimes related to the gang included Julius Webster, Antonio Peterson, Turin Mitchell, Howard Lawrence, Robert Porter, Derrick Durden, Christopher Conkle, and Luis Nitsche.

The indictment listed the majority of the felonious assault charges as related to Ladson causing serious physical harm to a number of unknown men.

Investigators said the shooting of Avent happened in March of 2015 at East 91st Street and Aetna Road.

Officers said Avent was found on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
