NEO students, teachers prepare for Pope's visit

Posted

John Cugel, an eighth grader at Gesu Catholic School in University Heights, is just four days away from making a trip to Philadelphia to hear Pope Francis speak.

"He means so much to me, he does so many good things in this world. He’s just an awesome person," Cugel said.

Cugel and his assistant principal, Mary Carol Jones, are both making the journey to hear the monumental speech.

Jones described the trip as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

"To be with other people who are like-minded and admire the Pope for all the good he’s done, to me it’s the best of everything," Jones said.

Students at Gesu unable to make the trip are still learning about the Pope.

Just this week second graders came up with their own questions for Pope Francis.

Watch the video above to hear some of the questions the kids had.
