There was a cuteness overload Friday night at a Cuyahoga County School.
"It's a good day to understand that daddies are important," said Tierre Wheler.
Young girls from Westwood Elementary in Warrensville Heights lit up as they hit the dance floor with some special guys on their arms for the first ever daddy-daughter dance.
"That's why you see so many young black men here representing for their daughters, that's what we need, that's what we're here for," said Wheler.
For all the little girls who didn't have anybody to bring to the big dance, the community stepped up in a huge way.
"We have the judges and the bailiffs, we have the fire department from Warrensville, the police department from North Randall," said Tiffany Timmons the parental involvement specialist at Warrensville Heights City School district.
So many community leaders volunteered to be dates for girls so they wouldn't feel left out.
"They didn't have anyone to escort them here, and just because they didn't have that in their life it's not their fault. They should not be punished or suffer for circumstances that are out of their control," said Timmons.
And the stand-in dads didn't just keep them company at the tables, they were getting down on the dance floor. They joined all the other fathers in making the night a dream. No wonder so many of little ones were beaming about these special guys.
"He's amazing, he's great and I love him so much," said Jade Wheler about her dad.
