The case against against Hans T. Wrage, a John Carroll University researcher, is expected to be dropped after the prosecutor's office filed a motion to have the charges dismissed, according to court documents.

Wrage was arrested last year after several gem were found missing on Dec. 3, 2015 from the Cleveland Museum of Natural History and he was allegedly filmed by museum security cameras.

The motion to dismiss was filed Tuesday, with officials asking the case to be dismissed "without prejudice," meaning charges could be re-filed against Wrage.
