RTA: blame record traffic for long delays during Cavs parade

Posted

The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority is blaming record traffic for long delays getting Cleveland Cavaliers fans downtown for Wednesday’s parade.

RTA spokeswoman Linda Krecic said about 500,000 rode the system’s buses and trains on Wednesday, compared to normal traffic of about 200,000 people.

Despite that record-setting strain, she told newsnet5.com many people were happy to wait in lines that were hours long.

“They did have to wait, but they were happy customers,” Krecic said.”There is no way to add any trains to our system, unless you’ve got five years, and millions and millions of dollars in funding. It takes years to do something like that. We would love to add more trains. It takes years to add new buses. We can’t build that overnight. We certainly can’t build that into our system in two days.”
