Some good news for a city struggling with poverty.
The Salvation Army opened its first facility in East Cleveland Sunday afternoon.
City leaders are so grateful they threw a party.
City leaders and Salvation Army officials kicked off the opening of the East Cleveland Corps Community Center with a parade and ribbon cutting ceremony.
This new center will offer a food pantry, a hot meals program, worship services and a senior program, but it's also looking for new ways it can serve East Cleveland.
Two more new Salvation Army Centers will open in Cleveland this year: one in Collinwood and one in West Park.
