Customers will experience interruptions of natural gas service in Berea as more than 20,000 feet of natural gas line is slated for replacement, Columbia Gas of Ohio announced.
Columbia states the cutoffs will be short.
The utility company anticipates work being complete within five months, weather permitting.
A customer information meeting is scheduled for May 2 at 7:30 p.m. at Grindstone Elementary School.
Columbia plans for the construction work to begin soon, such as marking of right of way and the inspection of sewer lines.
Natural gas meters located inside homes or businesses and some that are located outside will be relocated, according to Columbia.
Customers will be contacted prior to gas shut off and to scheduling re-light appointments, according to Columbia. It stated that all its employees an contractors carry identification cards with their name and photograph "and are happy to show it."
The utility company reported that the project is part of its 25-year, $2 billion plan to improve the safety and reliability of its more than 20,000-mile underground natural gas line system.
