A 15-year-old Solon High School student was taken into custody at a basketball game last week for bringing a BB gun without an orange safety tip to the school.
Solon police say they were contacted on Jan. 15 by the principal of Solon High School after a girl told him that she overheard the 15-year-old student saying he was tired of being picked on and was going to bring a gun to school to take care of the problem himself.
An officer working security at the school's basketball game that night stopped the student as he was walking into the game. When the officer searched the backpack, a BB gun without a safety tip was found, according to police.
Police said the BB gun closely resembled a real semi-automatic pistol. The teen was taken into custody and transported to the Solon Police Department, where he was released to his parents.
The case was transferred to the Cuyahoga County juvenile court for possible criminal charges.
