Maple Heights police responded to the area of Thomas and Raymond Streets for a report of a woman being pistol whipped and another woman who was assaulted Monday morning.

When officers arrived, the two women were able to exit the residence safely.

Officers learned there was a 6-year-old boy inside the house. The SWAT team was able to get the boy out of the house through a window.

The Southeast Area Law Enforcement SWAT team responded after officers tried to get an armed man with several warrants against him to come outside.

Police closed off Raymond Street between Phillip and Cato Streets. Residents are urged to stay away from the area.

Police were securing the residence until the homeowner comes home because it was a rental property. The SWAT team left the scene.

Maple Heights police did not give any updates on the outcome of the standoff situation.
