MAYFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio -- Mayfield Heights Police Department is investigating after multiple teens were reportedly shot with BB's at a local elementary school playground.

It happened at Lander Elementary School just before 11:00 p.m. Tuesday.

The person who called 911 said one teen was hit in the chest. Police also heard a second teen was shot in the leg, but had already left the scene.

Other kids on scene said they were sitting near the swings and monkey bars when they heard "shots going off" and "rock-like objects" hitting the area around them.

They said they thought it was coming from the back yards to the north (Marnell Rd.) but didn't see who was shooting.

A 14-year-old was the one hit in the chest, but did not need medical attention. The teen who was shot in the leg is a 13-year-old.

Some of the teenagers told police the same thing happened the night before, but they didn't say anything because no one was hit and they thought it was just rocks being thrown.

Police recovered nine sling shot ammo balls from the scene, and saw an upper window of the school that was struck with one of the ammo balls, causing the window to spider web.
