U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force surpasses 40,000 arrests

The U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force has surpassed 40,000 arrests and was recognized by the Ohio State Legislature. 

Both the House and the Senate recognized the Task Force for their work in arresting violent fugitives since its inception in June 2003.

U.S. Marshal of the Northern District of Ohio, Pete Elliott, created the task force in 2003. Since its inception the NOVFTF has been responsible for: the arrests of nearly 1,100 fugitives wanted for homicide, more than 3,300 fugitives wanted for sex offenses, more than 5,600 fugitives wanted for assault, more than 3,200 fugitives wanted for robbery, more than 2,500 fugitives wanted for weapons offenses and more than 11,000 fugitives wanted for narcotics offenses. 

The NOVFTF has also seized nearly 1,500 firearms, nearly 35,000 rounds of ammunition, nearly 800 kilograms of illegal narcotics and more than  $3.6 million in currency.

The NOVFTF has tracked down and captured fugitives across the United States as well as Canada, Mexico, Vanuatu and Israel. 

The NOVFTF now consists of more than 100 federal, state and local law enforcement agencies with more than 275 law enforcement officers working together to locate and apprehend the most violent offenders within Northern Ohio.
