Guns drawn after car crash in Westlake

Posted

A Westlake man pulled his gun after ramming his vehicle into another car and threatening the elderly couple inside Tuesday afternoon.

According to Westlake police, 67-year-old William Keener pulled up alongside a vehicle occupied by a 64-year-old woman and her 71-year-old husband and "words were exchanged."

Keener then allegedly crashed his car into the couple's vehicle several times.

Both drivers pulled over on Detroit Avenue near Crocker Road. Keener got out and threatened to kill the elderly couple in the other car, police said.

When the elderly man picked up his holstered gun and told Keener he had a concealed carry permit, Keener pulled out his gun, saying he too had a concealed carry permit.

Westlake police responded and separated the men. During a search, police found a second gun in Keener's car.

He was arrested on charges of felonious assault, aggravated menacing, possession of criminal tools, criminal damaging and criminal mischief.
