Injured man captures burglar after being shot inside his Sandusky home

Three teens are facing charges in connection with an armed robbery after a wounded Sandusky resident subdued one of his assailants after he was shot in his home during a burglary.

The robbery happened at a home on the 500 block of East Madison Street around 10:30 p.m. According to police, a 14-year-old, 13-year-old and 15-year-old were surprised by the resident when they entered the house. The 15-year-old allegedly pulled out a gun, shot the resident and ran from the house with the 13-year-old. 

The injured man apprehended the 14-year-old and contacted police. The teen was taken into custody and charged with aggravated burglary and aggravated robbery. The 13-year-old was arrested the next day and charged with the same crime. 

The 15-year-old, who police say is the alleged shooter, was turned into the Erie County Juvenile Justice Center by his mother. He was charged with felonious assault as well as aggravated burglary and aggravated robbery.  

The resident is expected to make a full recovery.
