On the Fourth of July, a woman witnessed something no driver wants to see—kittens being tossed out of a moving van.

Shortly after 7:30 a.m.,  a Sandusky resident was driving northbound on Old Railroad Road when she saw a kitten being thrown from the driver's side window of a silver or gold minivan.

She immediately stopped in the 5300 block of Old Railroad Road, near Bogart Road, to see if the kitten was okay while the vehicle continued to head northbound.

Once she located it, the woman said the kitten was attempting to crawl but could not move its hind legs, according to the report. She told police another motorist who stopped to assist her said there was another dead kitten just south of them.

She was unable to get a clear description of the van because it was already too far in the distance, according to the report.

An officer on scene noticed the other kitten on the east side of the road just north of a driveway at 5620 Old Railroad Rd. Based on his observations and the visible trauma, the kitten was recently deceased and had been run over at least once by the vehicle.
