MENTOR, Ohio — A 56-year-old man was arrested and charged after he was involved in a standoff with Mentor police at his residence that started on Sunday and ended on Monday morning, according to police.
John Sines, 56, is charged with felonious assault, kidnapping, having weapons under disability, aggravated menacing and obstructing official business, police said.
On Sunday at about 8:42 p.m., police responded to the 5500 block of Grace Drive for a report of domestic violence.
Police said a 68-year-old woman left the residence and called police from a neighbor's house. She was taken to Tri-Point Medical Center, where she was treated and released for her injuries, police said.
Sines refused to come to the front door when police arrived and barricaded himself in his residence. Police believed Sines was armed with a gun and had threatened to use it.
After numerous attempts to get Sines to surrender, SWAT teams entered the residence and arrested Sines on Monday at about 5:42 a.m.
Police recovered a gun during the arrest. Sines was booked into the Mentor City Jail.
Police said neither Sines nor any officers were injured during the standoff.
