On Sunday, Mentor-on-the-Lake dispatch received a 911 call that a woman had “just driven her car into the lake” at Mentor Beach Park.

Police said upon officers' arrival, they found a resident of Uniontown, Pennsylvania who was out of her car, walking around the park. The 43-year-old woman was taken to Lake West Hospital by Mentor-on-the-Lake Rescue with non-life threatening injuries and was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

The woman drove through the parking lot, police said, and crashed through a 4x4 wooden post at the end of the lot before continuing north. Her car came to a stop just before going into Lake Erie.

Police said the woman made statements at the scene that she thought she was in Euclid. The car was removed from the rocks by Vitalone’s Towing.
