WILLOWICK, Ohio — A pub in Willowick was cited for violating Ohio COVID-19 health orders early Saturday morning, according to the Ohio Investigative Unit.

Around 12:15 a.m., OIU agents, alongside officers with the Willowick Police Department, visited Bogside Pub where they witnessed customers closely congregating and occupying consecutive seats at the bar.

Other customers were seen standing behind others to order drinks at the bar while customers in separate groups were seated with no social distancing measures or physical barriers in place between the groups, OIU said.

Agents issued a citation for improper conduct- disorderly activity.

Bogside Pub had previously been cited for violating the then-active alcohol curfew in September and had a hearing in front of the Ohio Liquor Control Commission in October.

The Commission issued a five-day suspension of Bogside Pub’s liquor permit beginning Nov. 23, 2020, but gave the permit holder the option to pay a $500 fine in lieu of serving the suspension.

Bogside Pub will have its most recent case heard before the Commission and will again face potential penalties, including fines and/or the suspension or revocation of its liquor permit.
