Man and dog killed in Lorain County crash

Posted

A 41-year-old man and his dog are dead after a crash in Lorain County.

The crash happened around 9:30 p.m Wednesday in Pittsfield Township.

Kip McGraw, 41 of Sullivan, was driving westbound on Kipton Nickle-Plate Road when he failed to make a sharp curve to the right, Ohio State Patrol officials say.

The car went straight off the west side of the road, hit a road sign, a ditch and a tree before overturning.

McGraw, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. A dog that was riding in the car was also killed.

Authorities say speed and alcohol both appear to be factors. It is unknown at this time if drug use was a factor.

The crash remains under investigation. This marks the first fatal crash in Lorain County for 2016.
